Her AGT "Zombie" wasn't the gentle original. She reshaped it around heavier distortion, lead-guitar flourishes, and brief two-hand tapping. Most of that comes from three ingredients.
1. The guitar
A humbucker guitar with real sustain (she plays a vintage 1978 Ibanez Musician). Any solid humbucker guitar that holds a note gets you in the zone.
2. The amp, pushed
A Fender Deluxe Reverb, kept mostly clean so the pedal does the dirty work. A good starting point: gain low, treble and mids up, reverb light. Let the amp stay glassy and add the grit in front.
3. An overdrive or distortion pedal
The extra bite over the original isn't just the amp. An overdrive/distortion in front of a clean-ish amp gives that singing, sustaining lead tone. This is the cheapest, highest-impact part of the chain.
The technique
Her brief two-hand tapping adds fast runs without picking every note. It's a signature flourish, and it reads as "wow" on camera even in short bursts.
